Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Monday joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other Nigerian Governors at the opening ceremony of the Chief of Army Staff’s annual Conference taking place in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The conference with the theme “Personnel Motivation for Effective Operational Performance in a Joint Environment” is expected to last until December 16, 2023. On the President’s entourage are the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Defense, Mohammed Badaru, Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Toaheed Lagbaja and the Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Gold Chibuisi among others. President Tinubu’s first port of call was the Palace of the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn-Umar Garbai Elkanemi to pay homage. Declaring the Conference open, President Bola Tinubu praised the courage of men and officers of the Nigerian Army in the fight against insurgency commending their resilience against all odds to ensure that peace is restored in the troubled North East. The President promised continued support to security agencies to stem the tide of insecurity in the nation. He is optimistic that the good old days will return as his administration is committed to halting not only insurgency, but crime as a whole. The commander in chief challenged those of them in the war front to make the nation proud. “Lift your spirits while I’m here. That is just why I’m present here today,” he said. The President who commended the Chief of Army Staff for ensuring international best practices in training and equipping of personnel described the feedback he has received from various theatre of operation as encouraging. While also in Maiduguri, President Tinubu addressed troops of “Operation Hadin Kai”, inspected the ongoing Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Maiduguri and performed the ground breaking of the 7 Division office complex.
