MINISTRY OF WORKS AND ENERGY DEVELOPMENT OPENS BID FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD   NETWORK IN FEDERAL HOUSING ESTATE, BAJABURE

The Adamawa State Ministry of Works and Energy Development has conducted a bid opening for the construction of an 18.3-kilometer road network within the Federal Housing Estate, Bajabure, Girei local government area. The event, which took place at the Ministry’s conference hall, had three contractors, namely: Rocad Construction Ltd, Triacta Nig. Ltd, and Raycon and Co Ltd. In his welcome address, the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Works and Energy Development. Hon. Adamu Atiku Abubakar, stated that the bid opening is clearly in line with the laid down procedures of e-pprocurement of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), which the Ministry of Works and Energy Development has always adhered to for awarding contracts. He added that the BPP has set up a transparent standard from which Adamawa State is benefiting. He lastly wishes all the invited companies and organisations a successful bid opening. In her own part, the Head of Procurement in the Ministry, Mrs. Rabi Aminu Madani, projected the submissions that were made by the three companies as follows:  Rocad Construction Ltd. (18, 162,782,206.34), Raycon and Co. (17, 511,836,592.81), and lastly, Triacta Nig. Ltd. (16, 162, 975, 123.73), respectively. Responding on behalf of bidders, the representative of Triacta Nig. Ltd, Mr. Habib Jrad stated that the process is transparent and  also commendable. He applauded the Ministry for maintaining standards in their activities. Also speaking was the Chairman of Nigeria Society of Engineers ( NSE) Adamawa state chapter, Engr. Aminu Yaro who says that he is always given the Ministry credit for adhering to guidelines for awarding contracts,  stressing that the process is transparent and straightforward.  In other separate remarks, the representatives of civil society organisations and that of BPP have observed and commended the Ministry for transparency and for including related organisations in the process. Lastly, vote of thanks was delivered by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Mohammed Suleiman, who thanked and appreciated all the invitees, especially the BPP and NSE, for their involvement directly in the whole process. He noted that e- procurement polices is given the ministry a relief because of its transparency. According to him, the bid opening is just one of the processes of awarding contracts stressing that it will be subjected to a lot of processes. He pointed out that it is not the lowest bidders who always succeeded. He instructed all the technical evaluation committee to immediately embark on the evaluation process because of the fluctuations in the prices of goods in the country.
