Governor AUF has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and equipment at the world-class maternal and childcare centre. The center, which is situated within the specialist hospital Yola, was initiated by former Governor Murtala Nyako’s administration. Shortly after being conducted round to assess the state of the center, Governor AUF said he was impressed as the present administration actualized the dream of having one of the world-class maternal and childcare centres in the country. He said the government has to reduce maternal and child mortality, seeing the need to ensure continuity of what was started by former Governor Nyako. To ensure optimal results, the governor said experienced staff will be recruited to maintain standards. On his part, the Managing Director of the Specialist Hospital Yola, Dr. Dauda Wadinga, said aside from the world-class centre, a standard laboratory, an MRI, a CT scan, and other sophisticated equipment are within the hospital, saying no facility is left out. On the issue of maintenance, he disclosed that shortly before the Germans left, they expressed willingness to go into partnership with the state government to service the machines periodically for longevity. Dr. Wadinga appreciated the governor for his tireless help to the Adamawa people, especially in the healthcare sector, stating that the hospital plans to commission a dialysis centre soon.
