The GIZ- OXFAM’s Community Development Planning project in Michika Local Government Area has come to a successful close, marking a significant milestone in the efforts to promote citizen engagement and participatory planning in the region.
At a ceremony held on 9th & 10th May 2024 at City Green Hotel Yola, the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Planning Commission, the Permanent Secretary, and other dignitaries were honored with an Award of Recognition for their outstanding support and contributions to the implementation of the Citizen Engagement and Participatory Planning policy.
The projects, which aimed to empower local communities to take an active role in development planning and decision-making processes, have made a tangible impact on the lives of residents in Michika LGA.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Planning Commission Represented by the Permanent Secretary praised OXFAM’s efforts, saying, “The success of these projects is a testament to the power of collaboration and community engagement. We are grateful for OXFAM’s support and look forward to continued partnership.”
OXFAM’s Country Director, emphasized the importance of participatory planning, stating, “When citizens are engaged in the planning process, they become invested in the development of their communities. We are proud to have played a part in empowering the people of Michika LGA to take ownership of their development.”
The ceremony was attended by community leaders from Michika, members of SDCC, LGDCC, Michika local government officials, representatives from, GIZ, OXFAM, and other development organizations.
