The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved variation for the perimeter fencing of the Adamawa State Geographical Information System (AGIS) at the cost of N348,110,407,40. The Council has also approved last Saturday of every month as state sanitation day and called on the people to strictly obey the government decision. The State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mrs Niedo Geoffrey Kofulto, made this known while briefing journalists after the 6th State Executive Council meeting presided by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Council Chamber Government House, Yola, Wednesday. She revealed that the approval for the variation became necessary due to the current economic situation and the necessity of the project which is meant to secure and ensure safety of the AGIS office. According to her the approval for this variation now puts the total sum for the project at N692,752,57,3. She revealed that the council was happy to note the successes recorded in curtailing the spread of measles, which recently claimed over 40 lives in two LGAs of the state. According to Kofulto, the success story was made possible due to the pragmatic approach taking by the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Umaru Fintiri, his cabinet and stakeholders in the medical field She maintained that the efforts has yielded positive results however, drew attention of the citizens to adhere strictly to measures put in place by authorities in order to avoid any further outbreak
