News

The Adamawa State Executive Council (SEC) has approved an array of transformative projects totaling billions of naira. The projects, targeting agriculture, infrastructure, and public services, aim to bolster food security, enhance public accountability, and improve the quality of life across the state.

The approvals were made during a SEC meeting chaired by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, on Friday, December 13, 2024. Among the highlights is a N1.3 billion contract for agricultural land clearing and cultivation in six local government areas—Maiha, Michika, Hong, Ganye, Demsa, and Madagali. Spanning 300 hectares in each location, this initiative aims to boost food production and is expected to be completed within eight months.

Another pivotal project is the deployment of advanced biometric data for all civil servants and pensioners in the state. Valued at N266.3 million, this initiative seeks to eliminate salary fraud and streamline payroll systems. The contract, awarded to I-Tech Platform Limited, is slated for completion within three months.

Further reinforcing the state’s commitment to development, the SEC approved:

  • N204.5 million for a Toyota Coaster Bus for Adamawa Queens Football Club.
  • N1.33 billion for the installation of integrated solar streetlights in Yola.
  • N295 million for the construction and repair of Gamu Bridge embankments along the Ganye-Toungo road.
  • N3.53 billion for medical equipment, including a CF Scan machine for the Specialist Hospital Yola, and the construction of computer-based training centers.

Deputy Governor Farauta underscored the urgency and significance of these projects, urging contractors to adhere strictly to their timelines to ensure timely delivery. These developments mark a decisive step towards transforming Adamawa into a hub of innovation and progress.
