News

The Adamawa State Government, through the North East Multisectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) Adamawa State Project Coordination Unit, has successfully rehabilitated the Yola Urban Water Supply Project.

This project includes the installation of a new transmission line running from Jippu Jam to the elevated tank at the Adamawa State Board District office, alongside a 15-kilometer distribution network spanning Yola and surrounding areas. The project has involved the fencing and renovation of two office blocks, all equipped with modern facilities designed to address the water needs of the affected communities.

For over 15 years, local residents have struggled to access clean, potable water, which is a basic necessity.

Dr. Maurice Vunobolki, the Adamawa State Project Coordinator for the MCRP, emphasized that the upgraded Yola Urban Water Supply Project represents a significant achievement in the administration of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. He pointed out that the project aligns with the Governor’s 8-Point Agenda, demonstrating a commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens at the grassroots level.

The Yola Urban Water Supply Project is one part of a broader efforts with other water schemes in the state also being upgraded and rehabilitated in Numan, Shelleng, and Ganye Local Government Areas.

Under the MCRP, notable progress has already been made in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector, including the construction of about 450 hand pumps, 187 Solar Powered Boreholes, 21 Small Towns Water Supply Schemes and 96 Ventilated Improved Latrines (VIPs) across the state.

Dr. Vunobolki concluded that the upgraded water supply scheme is more than just the restoration of infrastructure. It’s a transformative effort aimed at improving public health, reducing water-borne diseases, and significantly enhancing the lives of residents.
