News

A State-Level Advocacy/Townhall Meeting was convened yesterday as part of ongoing efforts to build consensus and consolidate memoranda for submission to the Constitutional Reform Committee during the upcoming Zonal Public Hearing.

The meeting brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including civil society organizations, traditional leaders, youth representatives, women’s groups, legal experts, and political figures. The aim was to engage citizens in robust dialogue on key issues affecting constitutional governance and to harmonize their positions into a unified memorandum.

Participants discussed critical areas, including restructuring, devolution of powers, local government autonomy, gender inclusion, and electoral reforms. The town hall served as a platform to ensure that grassroots voices are reflected in the constitutional review process.

Speaking at the event, the team lead emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue, stating: “This meeting is a vital step toward ensuring that the reforms we seek are truly reflective of the will of the people.”

The memoranda generated during the town hall will be submitted to the Constitutional Reform Committee at the Zonal Public Hearing scheduled to be held later this month.

This initiative underscores the commitment of stakeholders to a transparent and participatory approach to Nigeria’s constitutional development.
