News:The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) 5W Matrix Tool is a vital coordination instrument designed to systematically capture and analyze who is doing what, where, when, and for whom. This tool is widely used in humanitarian and development contexts to improve service delivery, avoid duplication, and ensure that vulnerable populations receive targeted and effective interventions. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and inadequate access to Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services remain persistent challenges in humanitarian and low-resource settings, especially in post-conflict or disaster-affected regions. The need for well-coordinated responses led to the development of the 5W Matrix Tool — a standardized reporting framework that aligns all service providers around shared visibility and accountability. The success of the GBV/SRH 5W Tool depends on active collaboration from: GBV/SRH Program Managers, M&E Officers, Humanitarian Responders, Health Workers, Community-Based Organizations, and Stakeholders. Organizations fill out the 5W Matrix based on their ongoing/planned GBV or SRH services. Reports are submitted monthly or quarterly to the sector lead or coordination platform. The Focal persons verify accuracy (location, services, duplication) then the validated data is compiled into a master matrix, often linked with GIS for mapping and onward upload on the Adamawa State Planning Commission’s Citizen’s Eyes and Ears Dashboard. Benefits of the Tool: 1.Enhances coordination and communication among stakeholders. 2.Supports evidence-based programming and policy formulation. 3.Strengthens monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. 4.Provides visibility to donor-funded activities and outcomes. The GBV/SRH 5W Matrix Tool remains a cornerstone for effective coordination and management of GBV and SRH services. By ensuring that all partners contribute to and utilize this tool, humanitarian and development efforts can achieve greater reach, efficiency, and impact.
