13th North-East Governors’ Forum Holds in Maiduguri

The 13th meeting of the North-East Governors’ Forum is being held in Maiduguri, Borno State, On 2nd October, 2026, bringing together the six Governors of the North-East States to deliberate on key issues affecting the region and to strengthen collective efforts towards sustainable development.

The high-level meeting is attended by the six Governors of the North-East, alongside the Secretaries to the State Governments (SSGs) of the six States, reflecting the region’s continued commitment to strengthening inter-state collaboration and coordinated governance.

Also in attendance is the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Prof. Garba Pella, Ph.D., who is participating in the deliberations on issues relating to education and human capital development across the region.

Representing the Adamawa State Planning Commission (ASPC) is its Executive Chairman, Dr. Mary Paninga, Ph.D., whose participation underscores the importance of evidence-based planning, development coordination, monitoring and evaluation in advancing the socio-economic development agenda of the North-East.

The meeting also brings together key strategic advisers and stakeholders, including Special Adviser on ICT, Dr. Hammanjam, and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Baba Yola, highlighting the growing importance of technology, communication and strategic public engagement in regional governance.

The North-East Governors’ Forum provides a platform for the six States—Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe—to discuss shared development challenges, identify common priorities and pursue coordinated solutions in areas including education, infrastructure, security, economic development, healthcare, technology and human capital development.

The 13th meeting is expected to further strengthen regional cooperation and foster practical strategies for accelerating development across the North-East, while promoting a unified voice on issues of importance to the region.
