Action Against Hunger International Visits Adamawa State Planning Commission to Strengthen Development Collaboration

The Adamawa State Planning Commission received a delegation from Action Against Hunger International on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration and providing an update on the organization’s ongoing humanitarian and development interventions across the state.

The delegation was warmly received by the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Planning Commission, alongside members of the Commission’s management team, at the Commission’s headquarters in Yola.

During the meeting, the Action Against Hunger International team briefed the Commission on its activities in Adamawa State, highlighting planned interventions in three major cattle markets across the state—Ngurore, Chigari, and Mubi. The proposed interventions include the drilling of boreholes to improve access to clean water, the installation of solar power systems to enhance energy supply within the markets, and the provision of livestock holding pegs to improve livestock management, safety, and overall market operations.

The team emphasized its commitment to supporting the Adamawa State Government in addressing humanitarian challenges and promoting sustainable development through strategic partnerships with relevant ministries, departments, and agencies.

Speaking during the meeting, the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Planning Commission commended Action Against Hunger International for its contributions to improving the wellbeing of vulnerable populations across the state. The Chairman noted that the Commission values partnerships that align with the state’s development priorities and evidence-based planning agenda.

The Chairman further stressed the importance of effective coordination, timely data sharing, and alignment of development interventions with the Adamawa State Development Plan to maximize impact, eliminate duplication of efforts, and ensure resources are efficiently utilized.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss areas of mutual interest, including improved programme coordination, monitoring and evaluation, data management, and collaboration on future development initiatives that will enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the people of Adamawa State.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening the partnership between Action Against Hunger International and the Adamawa State Planning Commission in support of inclusive, sustainable, and people-centred development across the state.
