A technical kick-off workshop for the Community Development Planning (CDP) process in Jada and Mayo Belwa Local Government Areas was held Tuesday at Elish Event Center, Numan, and drew stakeholders from Government Ministries, Agencies, and Development Partners.
GIZ’s Governance and Policy Adviser, Geraldyn, said the workshop laid the technical groundwork for the CDP launch in both LGAs. GIZ’s Monitoring and Evaluation Adviser, Lukman Abubakar, added that the process would engage participants, with inclusion deliberately built in: 30% returnees, 10% internally displaced persons, and women making up 50%. The CDP process is designed to ensure citizens’ voices shape public policy and the State budget.
GIZ’s Embedded Technical Adviser, Abubakar Tukur, commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for ensuring LGAs with approved CDPs have their priorities reflected in the State budget, and urged participants to remain accountable, prudent and transparent throughout planning.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Hajiya Hauwa Banu, praised GIZ’s support in healthcare, education, water supply and women’s inclusion in decision-making, calling the workshop timely and consistent with the Fintiri administration’s people-oriented, transparent governance approach.
Flagging off the process, the Vice Chairmen of Jada and Mayo Belwa — Josephine John and Mahmud Dabo, representing their Council Chairmen — welcomed the initiative as a step forward for development and inclusivity.
