The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved projects and budgetary interventions worth over ₦36.896 billion, covering a supplementary budget allocation, a pedestrian bridge in Yola, renovation of the state’s Kaduna lodge, and a cabinet restructuring.
The approvals came during the Ninth Executive Council Meeting of 2026, chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at Government House, Yola. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Leader Leneke, announced the decisions to journalists.
The largest single approval was an amendment to the 2026 Revised Budget Estimates, channeling over ₦36 billion from the contingency reserve to various ministries, departments, and agencies to accelerate the delivery of ongoing government programmes.
EXCO also approved a ₦742 million contract for the construction of a pedestrian bridge across Galadima Aminu Way — commonly known as Bank Road — in Yola. Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Engr. Suleiman Muhammad, said the bridge would be completed within three months, with the aim of improving pedestrian safety, easing traffic flow, and enhancing security along one of the capital’s busiest corridors.
On cabinet restructuring, Governor Fintiri directed the Commissioner for Special Duties to assume oversight of the Ministry of Livestock. EXCO also approved the merger of the Ministry of Energy with the Ministry of Works, restoring it as the Ministry of Works and Energy Development, to consolidate infrastructure and energy delivery under a single portfolio.
The council further approved over ₦154 million for the remodeling and renovation of the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge in Kaduna, the state’s official facility for government business in the federal capital.
On accountability, Governor Fintiri directed all ministries to submit comprehensive progress reports on ongoing projects through the Office of the Chief of Staff before the end of next week, establishing a centralised monitoring mechanism across all MDAs
