ADSIEC TRAINS RESIDENT ELECTORAL OFFICERS AND SENIOR STAFF AHEAD OF JUNE 13 LOCAL COUNCIL POLLS

Ahead of the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for June 13 in Adamawa State, the management of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has conducted a crucial training programme for its senior staff and the 21 Resident Electoral Officers (REOs).

The training was aimed at equipping the officers with the necessary knowledge on their key responsibilities, while also updating them on recent developments in electoral processes in line with electoral laws and ethics.

Speaking during the event, the Chairman of the Commission, Mohammed Umar, stated that the training was carefully designed to provide the officers with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation required to discharge their duties with professionalism, transparency, and integrity.

He noted that electoral officers remain frontline custodians of the electoral process, stressing that their actions before, during, and after the election would greatly influence public confidence in the outcome of the polls.

According to him, the goal of the training is not only to educate the officers but also to prepare them to respond effectively to real-life situations that may arise during the conduct of the elections.

The Chairman urged the officers to strictly adhere to the rule of law in every decision they make, emphasizing that the success of the election would not only be measured by its outcome, but also by how well the process reflects fairness, inclusiveness, and accountability.

The Resident Electoral Officers and senior staff of the Commission commended the initiative and pledged to utilize the knowledge acquired during the training to ensure a credible electoral process that would enable the people of Adamawa State to freely choose leaders of their choice.
