Governor Fintiri Launches Electric Motorbike Initiative, Establishes EV Assembly Plant in Adamawa

The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has taken another bold step toward economic transformation, industrial growth, and sustainable development with the launch of a groundbreaking Electric Vehicle (EV) initiative in partnership with Sparrow Electric.

The initiative, which focuses on the establishment of an electric motorbike assembly plant in Adamawa State, is expected to position the state as one of Nigeria’s emerging hubs for clean energy innovation and modern transportation systems.

Speaking on the development, Governor Fintiri described the project as a strategic move aimed at driving industrialization, creating employment opportunities, and promoting environmentally friendly transportation alternatives across the state and beyond.

The electric motorbike assembly plant is projected to have an impressive annual production capacity of 50,000 units, a development expected to significantly boost local manufacturing and strengthen the state’s economy.

In addition to the assembly plant, the initiative also includes the deployment of several mini-grid power installations across Adamawa State, with an estimated electricity generation capacity of about 35 megawatts. The power projects are expected to support communities, businesses, and industrial activities while improving access to reliable and sustainable energy.

The project is anticipated to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for youths, engineers, technicians, artisans, and entrepreneurs, thereby contributing to economic empowerment and reducing unemployment in the state.

The initiative will also help reduce dependence on expensive fossil fuels while promoting cleaner and greener energy alternatives in line with global trends in sustainable development and climate-conscious innovation.

Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building critical infrastructure, attracting investments, empowering citizens, and positioning Adamawa State as a destination for innovation, technology, and industrial advancement.

Observers have described the initiative as a major milestone in the state’s development journey and a strong indication that Adamawa is embracing the future with confidence through forward-looking policies and transformative investments.
