Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved an upward review of pensions for retired civil servants, directing that no pensioner in the state should receive less than ₦50,000 monthly with effect from next month.

Governor Fintiri announced the approval while featuring on the live entertainment programme, “Taba Kidi Taba Karatu,” on the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Yola, on Friday.

The governor described as unacceptable the situation where some pensioners received less than ₦10,000 monthly, stressing that such an era had come to an end.

He said retirees deserved improved welfare in recognition of their years of dedicated service to the state, noting that the pension review was part of his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of workers and retirees.

Governor Fintiri also assured the people that all projects initiated by his administration would be completed before the expiration of his tenure.

According to him, key projects include the International Conference Hall, shopping complex, NYSC Orientation Camp, Mother and Child Hospital, and other critical infrastructure across the state.

While at the premises of ABC Yola, the governor inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the station’s studios and the installation of newly procured FM and AM transmitters.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and directed the contractor to expedite the completion of the remaining works, including the installation of the new broadcast equipment to improve radio coverage across Adamawa State.

Speaking on the newly sworn-in local government council chairmen, Governor Fintiri urged them to remain committed to grassroots development, reminding them that local government remains the closest tier of government to the people.

On education, the governor said his administration had recruited additional teachers to strengthen the sector and assured that salaries would continue to be paid promptly while efforts were being intensified to provide a conducive working environment for teachers and other public servants.

Governor Fintiri further disclosed that work on the dualisation of the Jimeta Bypass would commence in October, adding that his administration was also working to deliver 25 megawatts of solar power to improve electricity supply across the state.

On security, he said the state government had continued to collaborate with security agencies to sustain peace, commending security personnel for their efforts in protecting lives and property.

He noted that the creation of new chiefdoms had contributed to improved security and strengthened local administration, adding that peace had been restored in many communities previously affected by insecurity.
The governor called on residents to protect public infrastructure, continue supporting government programmes, and work towards the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
