Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has paid a visit to Adamawa State students currently on overseas scholarship at Istinye University, Istanbul, Turkey, to assess their welfare and monitor their academic progress under the state government’s flagship overseas scholarship programme.

The students, numbering approximately 200, are pursuing various master’s degree programmes sponsored by the Adamawa State Government as part of its broader commitment to human capital development and institutional capacity building.

During the visit, the university’s management briefed Governor Fintiri on the performance of the Adamawa students, reporting that they have distinguished themselves across their respective fields of study. University officials noted that many of the scholars are recording outstanding grades and have consistently demonstrated a high level of dedication and discipline in their academic pursuits.

The university management commended the Adamawa State Government for the scholarship initiative, describing it as a sound and worthwhile investment that is already yielding measurable returns. Officials affirmed that the students have proven equal to the task, upholding the reputation of Adamawa State and Nigeria on the international stage.

Responding to the update, Governor Fintiri expressed satisfaction with the students’ performance and praised them for justifying the confidence reposed in them by the state government. He reiterated that beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme were selected strictly on merit, and that the programme is a deliberate policy intervention by his administration to develop skilled manpower, empower youth, and build a stronger professional workforce for the state.

In a significant announcement during the visit, Governor Fintiri disclosed that arrangements have been concluded to sponsor an additional 200 students for master’s degree programmes in Australia and Canada, further expanding the reach of the overseas scholarship initiative.

The governor described education as one of the most effective and sustainable tools for development, noting that the overseas scholarship scheme is designed to equip beneficiaries with global knowledge, skills, and expertise that will ultimately contribute to Adamawa State’s socioeconomic growth and long-term development agenda.

He urged the students to remain focused, maintain high academic standards, and continue to serve as worthy ambassadors of Adamawa State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The overseas scholarship programme remains one of the Fintiri administration’s flagship educational investments, aimed at producing a generation of highly skilled professionals capable of driving innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development across all sectors of Adamawa State.
