HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT REMAINS A KEY PRIORITY TO ADAMAWA STATE GOVERNMENT.

Governor Fintiri stated this when he received the RN 2.0 Implementation Support Mission, led by the Federal Government and supported by the World Bank, at the Government House in Yola.
The programme is being implemented under the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria, ARIN, Project, a World Bank funded government programme aimed at improving nutrition outcomes in the country.
Governor Fintiri said he was particularly pleased that the programme brings together health, nutrition and agriculture, stressing that sustainable nutrition outcomes require a coordinated approach across the three sectors.
He appreciated the World Bank and the Federal Government for their continued partnership and support to the people of Adamawa State.
The Governor directed relevant ministries, departments, agencies and project implementation units to work closely with the mission team, provide accurate information and promptly address any issues identified during the assessment.
He also encouraged the mission to engage with state implementation teams and communities to understand the progress made, challenges encountered and measures required to improve the programme.
Leader of the delegation and National Project Manager of the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria, ARIN, Project, Dr. Dogara Okara, said Adamawa is among the states selected to benefit from the World Bank supported programme.
Dr. Okara said the project is aimed at improving nutrition outcomes by increasing access to quality and cost effective nutrition commodities for pregnant and lactating women, children under five and adolescents.
He said the health component will provide commodities including lipid-based nutrition supplements, ready to use therapeutic food, albendazole, F75, F100 and micronutrient powders.
According to him, the agricultural component will provide equipment, seeds, seedlings and livestock, among other interventions.
Dr. Okara said the first set of health and agricultural commodities is expected to arrive in Adamawa from October.
He added that the team also assessed the state’s storage facilities, as some of the commodities require proper temperature and storage conditions.
The National Project Manager expressed confidence that Adamawa State is prepared to receive and effectively utilize the commodities.
