A 2-day capacity building workshop for members of the Local Government Area (LGA) Committees on Food and Nutrition was successfully conducted at Mubi North Local Government Area. The workshop brought together representatives from six LGAs: Mubi North Local Government Area, Mubi South Local Government Area, Maiha Local Government Area, Madagali Local Government Area, Michika Local Government Area, and Hong Local Government Area.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of LGA committee members on effective coordination, planning, implementation, and monitoring of food and nutrition interventions at the local government level. Participants included representatives from key sectors such as health, agriculture, education, water resources, women affairs, community leaders, and civil society organizations.
During the workshop, facilitators delivered presentations on the roles and responsibilities of LGA Committees on Food and Nutrition, the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration, and strategies for addressing malnutrition and food insecurity among vulnerable populations, particularly women and children.
Participants actively engaged in group discussions, practical sessions, and experience sharing, which helped them identify major nutrition challenges within their respective LGAs and propose practical solutions.
At the end of the workshop, participants from the six LGAs developed action points and commitments to strengthen coordination and improve the implementation of nutrition-related activities in their communities.
