FINTIRI INSPECTS ADAMAWA DIGITAL ACADEMY, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Governor says Adamawa’s youths must be positioned to compete in the global digital economy

YOLA, ADAMAWA STATE — The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing digital education and youth empowerment as he inspected the Adamawa State Digital Academy ahead of its official takeoff.

The inspection was undertaken to assess the level of preparedness of the Academy and ensure that the necessary structures and arrangements are in place for its successful commencement.

Governor Fintiri said his visit was aimed at ensuring that the Academy is properly positioned to fulfil its mandate, assuring the management of the State Government’s full support towards its development and successful operation.

The Governor emphasized the importance of equipping young people with relevant digital knowledge and skills, noting that the world is rapidly transitioning into a technology-driven economy.

He said Adamawa State must not be left behind in the digital transformation, particularly given the potential of the State’s youthful population.

“We are in a digital age, and we cannot afford to be left behind. We have resilient and very intelligent young people in Adamawa State, perhaps more than anywhere in the North. We have to position them to move the world. That is the only way to engage them and keep them abreast of current developments.”

Governor Fintiri further stressed that deliberate investment in digital skills and human capital development would create opportunities for young people while enabling them to participate meaningfully in the emerging global digital economy.

OVER 10,000 STUDENTS ALREADY ENROLLED

The Programme Coordinator of the Adamawa State Digital Academy, Dr. Sumaiyya B. Sabo, explained that the establishment of the Academy was motivated by the need to ensure that Adamawa State actively participates in the ongoing global digital transformation.

According to her, the vision is to build a digitally skilled population and position Adamawa State as a leading digital hub in Northern Nigeria.
Dr. Sabo disclosed that more than 10,000 students have already enrolled on the Academy’s digital platform ahead of its official takeoff.

She further stated that the Academy will commence with 11 accredited courses, providing learners with opportunities to acquire relevant digital knowledge and competencies.

STRENGTHENING HUMAN CAPITAL THROUGH DIGITAL SKILLS

The Adamawa State Digital Academy is expected to contribute significantly to the State’s human capital development agenda by providing young people with access to digital learning and skills development opportunities.

The initiative is also expected to support efforts towards youth empowerment by equipping participants with competencies relevant to employment, entrepreneurship, innovation and participation in the wider digital economy.

With thousands of learners already enrolled and 11 accredited courses prepared for commencement, the Academy represents an important step towards strengthening digital capacity among young people in Adamawa State.

The State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that expand opportunities for young people and prepare them for the demands of the future.

The Adamawa State Digital Academy is expected to commence operations soon.

The future is digital, and Adamawa State is preparing its young people for it.
