The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Adamawa State University and Modibbo Adama University aimed at strengthening academic cooperation and advancing research activities between the two institutions.
‎The agreement was formally signed by the Vice Chancellors of both universities at the Abubakar Barde Campus of Adamawa State University, Mubi.
‎The historic pact is expected to deepen collaboration in key academic areas, including knowledge sharing, joint research, postgraduate supervision, staff development, sabbatical exchanges, and facility sharing.
‎Speaking at the event, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta commended the managements of the two universities for initiating what she described as a strategic and impactful partnership capable of enhancing higher education in the state and beyond.
‎She emphasized the need for academics to remain committed to equipping students with both knowledge and practical skills required to thrive in today’s competitive world.
‎The Deputy Governor reassured the institutions of the state government’s continued support towards transforming them into world-class centres of learning and innovation.
‎Professor Farauta also stressed the importance of effective supervision and urged the universities to broaden the frontiers of knowledge through research and innovation.
‎The Vice Chancellor of Adamawa State University, Professor Clement Augustine, and his counterpart from Modibbo Adama University, Professor Ibrahim Umar Bobboi, disclosed that the MoU covers joint postgraduate supervision, collaborative research programmes, staff development initiatives, sabbatical exchanges, and the sharing of academic facilities.
‎Other key components of the agreement include livestock development with a focus on artificial insemination of indigenous livestock breeds, the introduction of medical and allied health science programmes to train more healthcare professionals, and enhanced collaboration through the Centre for Peace and Security Studies.
‎The pact also seeks to expand agricultural programmes and strengthen capacity-building opportunities for academic staff.
‎Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to the smooth implementation of the agreement to ensure the realization of its objectives.
‎A highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts to the Deputy Governor by the Vice Chancellor of Adamawa State University, Mubi.
‎Earlier, Professor Farauta conducted an inspection tour of facilities at the university as part of activities marking the occasion.
