UNICEF & 21 LGAs ADVOCATE FOR UNLOCKING RESOURCES FOR NUTRITION FINANCING IN ADAMAWA STATE.

News:The Adamawa state planning Commission in collaboration with UNICEF organized a roundtable meeting with the 21 Local Government Chairmen on unlocking Resources for Nutrition Financing, held at the Deputy Governor’s Office Conference Hall, Yola. The discussions highlighted the Nutrition situation in the state with alarming rate of children malnutrition and getting worse by the day. The Commission and UNICEF are advocating for increased budgetary allocation (investment on nutrition) from the 21 Local Government Chairmen to combat malnutrition in the state. The Chief of UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Dr.Nuzhat Rafique, underscored the commitment made by His Excellency Rt.Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, by Investing 300million for purchase of Nutrition related commodities. She is also advocating for the 21 LGAs Chairmen to provide budgetary support for sustainable nutrition programes at the Local Government level in the state. The Executive Chairman Adamawa state planning Commission, Dr Mary Paninga, gave an insights that malnutrition requires multisectoral approaches that Centre on nutrition investment by all stakeholders, She appreciated His Excellency for investing resources not only on Nutrition but in all areas of human endeavor in the state. At the end of the Meeting the 21 LGA Chairmen resolved that, they will provide budgetary allocation and increased funding to nutrition related issues and they equally call on partners and philanthropists to invest more on nutrition in order to combat the ugly trend of malnutrition in the state
