ADAMAWA SEC APPROVES OVER N1.2 BILLION FOR KEY INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
The Adamawa State Executive Council, at its 10th meeting in 2025, has approved over N919 million for the extension of the House of Assembly Complex office,Yola. The contract has been awarded to Messrs Farassociate Nigeria Limited, with a completion timeline of seven months. The project, which was originally awarded in 2007 but later abandoned, has been revived by the present administration under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who deemed its completion a priority. This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, shortly after the council meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Wednesday. Mr. James further revealed that the council also approved ₦369 million for the renovation, remodeling, and automation of the main entrance gate of the Government House, Yola. He revealed that the contract for this project was awarded to Messrs Timeless Dizing Limited, which he commended for its capacity to deliver a state-of-the-art facility. He used the occasion to caution residents living in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer zones during the rainy season for their own safety and the protection of their property. In his contribution, the Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Pirambe highlighted that the remodeling and renovation efforts across the state are aligned with the urban renewal agenda of Governor Fintiri’s administration. He noted that several government facilities including Barde Lodge and Gambo Lodge in the Government House, Yola among others are undergoing significant renovations and are taking on a new and modern appearance. Also speaking, the Commissioner of Rural Infrastructure, Mr. Titus Solomon, provided updates on the NYSC–Labondo–Borong road project. He said the contract was awarded and the contractor mobilized in the first quarter of 2024 adding however that due to current economic realities, a holistic assessment of the work done so far is required. To this end, Mr Titus said the council has set up a committee to evaluate the project and consider a possible review of the contract sum in line with the present market value of construction materials, ensuring the project’s completion. He added that the committee will also assess the Gereng-Borong road, which is often submerged during flooding as according to him the area is considered a waterlogged zone, and any construction must address this challenge comprehensively. Meanwhile, the council has commiserated with the family of the late Professor Jibril Aminu, praying for the repose of his soul and for God to grant the family the strength to bear the loss.
